Pledge to support a clean elections ballot initiative in your state. Special interests have prevented action on global warming for more than two decades. We support clean elections as a way to curtail the influence of special interests in politics.
What are clean elections? A clean election is one where candidates can run for office without having to raise huge sums of money from private donors. Qualifying candidates who pledge not to accept private donations receive full public financing for their campaigns. (To qualify, a candidate must collect a set number of small contributions from people in their district.)
Both Maine and Arizona have full clean elections systems in place, and several other states are in the process of cleaning up their elections this way. For more information, see Public Campaign and clean elections on Wikipedia.
