There are several ways to address and take personal responsibility for the effects of car-generated CO2 emissions.
What I mean by "Give up driving" is taking a first step toward living a car-free life: live as if you did not have a car anymore, but keep it for a while "just in case". Technically, to be exact, it should be "give up driving your car", because you can try using a flexcar or a rental - that's what you would do in case of real need if you did not have your car anymore.
Does it sound too negative? Oh well. You know, when you try kicking an addiction, you say "I'm giving up booze" or "... drugs" or whatever. You can say "I'm going drug-free" if you prefer, but the end result is the positive life you gain, no matter how negative the action sounds... Just my 2c.
