Focus the Nation
On January 31st, Focus the Nation
engaged over 1 million people nation-wide through the organization of
over 1,900 "teach-in" style events at campuses, k-12 schools, places of worship, and businesses. In addition to the educational teach-in on climate change, many organizers invited their congressional and state representatives to take part in their events, catalyzing direct dialogues or question and answer sessions between the youth and their representation. After January 31st, Focus the Nation developed an extensive de-briefing process which solicited feedback from all of the amazing faculty and student organizers who spent hundreds of thousands of hours planning these events.
The feedback was clear.
Direct engagement with elected officials is a priority for our generation. This year, on
April 18th, Focus the Nation will coordinate town-hall style events in all 435 congressional districts across the nation. By reaching beyond the borders of campuses, Focus is
actively listening to your needs and will help you engage neighbors, community organizations, youth, students, and concerned citizens, providing them with the tools they need to make their town-hall events successful. Not only will this highly-interactive method help identify local solutions to local climate issues, it will also help develop personal, long-term relationships between neighbors, making Focus the Nation more than a one-time event, but rather, a lasting experience.
