The science is clear: we can fix this, but we must act
now. The economics is clear: we can afford to do
it. Yet we have so far failed to act. The U.S. pledged to take action
on climate change fifteen years ago, yet since then our emissions have
steadily increased.
Solving global warming won't be easy. It will
require an all-out efforta transformation of the global energy
system. But most of all, it will require science-based,
long-term planning that is not skewed by special interests.
How can we make that happen? We are engaged in
an unprecedented campaign of public dialogue and political
action. We are creating a citizen's climate briefing, and taking it to
our elected officials. We are building a network of twenty million climate voters.
