I am here because the causes of climate change are scientifically proven to be anthropogenic. As a human, specifically as an American consumer, it is my duty to implement this consciousness into action.
As part of my undergraduate study at the University of Washington, I participated in an intensive task force dedicated to solving the following: "What Should U.S. Policy on Climate Change Be?". Weeks of headache and hair-pulling, the topic became more and more complex. The environment has taken the backseat in U.S. policy for decades, and shifting the agenda to prioritize this much needed effort will be a challenge in the years to come. Especially since our democratic system is based on short-term elections, and climate change is an inter-generational issue. However, I have faith that change can be done through communities.
