Wierd weather, forsithia in January, bulbs pushing up... There's no point in arguing. It is time to get on with global cooling, even though the reversal in climate trends won't be very apparent until after I'm gone, we all need to act, and we need to start now. My daughter is 24, and I worry about what she will witness in the next 40 years. Can we learn to love the planet enough to make conscious choices EVERY day? Can we escape our Car Culture and find happiness on the bus, or on a bike?
I have been an early adopter of almost every progressive cause coming along...traded the power mower for push and shrank the lawn, replaced the washer with the super-efficient front loader and dry most of the time on the line, put in compact fluorescent fixtures before they were simply the retrofit screw-in type...much to my forever blinking dismay...bought the Prius the day before Leonardo DiCapprio got his, and share it grudgingly with my spouse whose work is on a direct bus line (when it comes...28 to Broadview anyone?) and most recently did my carbon garbage bill calculation so that for $15.45 a month I'm totally "offset." So much for walk the talk.
Now it is time to find ways to talk the talk to many, many more people. This is what 2people is all about. I'm happy to see what I can do to help, thru Sustainable Ballard and my contacts in the neighborhood.
