Got this great message from Andrea and I wanted to answer it in public (hope you don't mind, Andrea!)...

I actually thought about posting a question earlier because I really like your site---I've already linked to other sites to figure out my carbon footprint, and emailed an entire list-serve about buying TerraPasses for a recent trip to Atlanta (we have a big writing conference there next week). My office is now going to use it to offset our plane pollution. Anyway, I see that there aren't any groups started in Santa Monica, and I'd love to start one, but I'm not sure what that entails. Just making myself available? I've been really involved in activism for years, ran Feminist Majority's Get Out Her Vote Campaign in Columbus, OH for the 2004 elections, yadda yadda, but am interested  these days in turning my activism to environmental causes. Anyway, I'd love to do anything to help, so just let me know what would be most helpful!

I get asked a lot, How can I help? Well, it's my favorite question ... we need all the help we can get! Here are some possibilities:

1. Sure, set up a local (eg., Santa Monica) team. There are no rules to it, although I would think people want to know what the team is going to do. To be honest, we're still experimenting with the teams, and finding out what they're good for. We have 9 people signed up for the Seattle Climate Dialogues team, and it's starting to go somewhere.

2. Do outreach for 2People. I posted some ideas in the workspace for this team.

3. Post events. I wrote about this recently.

4. Get involved in the Citizen's Briefing project.

5. What special skills or interests do you have that you might bring to this? For instance, Joe Mohr volunteered to create 2People t-shirts (coming soon!).

I hope that's helpful at finding helpful opportunities!
