The Boston Globe has this article on the front page today. Even though a sentence at the end would ask people to consider the benefits of wind farms, mostly it confirms the fears people have of how wind farms will have negative effects. These people do have legitimate concerns (were they lied to, are projects hidden until the last minute - I've encountered this regarding cell towers), but the paper puts front page faces on these stories and also creates the impression that there is no solution. How do we counter this "news"?

Very interesting. I have a lot of sympathy with the noise pollution issue ...
I think the main response to this is that we have to have a truly well-informed, democratic process that will let us look at the urgency of the issues and the tradeoffs with all the various solutions. Some places may decide they don't want wind. That's okay ... as long as we're not just playing NIMBY.
