Paper of Plastic? Neither. It's always priceless to see the look on a cashier's face when I tell them this. I found some wonderful reusable shopping bags... that are so fabulous that even the most fashion savvy can now be environmentally conscious and look good too! Every time I take these bags to the market with me I almost always get a compliment and everyone wants to know where I got them! I got them from a company so rightly named: reusablebags.com. The ones I got were the "ACME Bags Earth Tote" and I really really LOVE them, but if you want something different.. they have tons of styles and makes to suit every need!

Carlton-
I just ordered some bags from this website! I should be getting them any day now. A fellow co-worker has some. The ones she has, and what I ordered, are made with hemp, have two size handles, and actually have the saying "Plastic Bags Blow" on them. It may be a little much, but at least it will get people looking (and thinking) when they see them.

I get the same looks. In fact, the other day i went to the grocer for my in-laws. I didn't have any canvas bags with me so I bought two at the grocer (they have them upfront -- which is great for awareness!) and then went about my shopping.
Upon checking out, I handed the lady the two canvas bags first, but i still got the familiar ... "Is plastic okay?" question. I replied that I'd like to just use the canvas bags i was buying. She looked at me like I head two heads.
As I left, I wondered that if I'd said nothing, would she have put my canvas bags in a PLASTIC bag for me to take home?!?!?

The bags on the site you referenced are cool! Thanks for sharing.
I bought some stuff at IKEA recently and instead of opting for their new reusable plastic sack, I opted for their larger blue bag with handles for 59¢. IKEA will take 50¢ off each future purchase when you bring back your bag. While these larger bags are a heavier form of plastic (yeah, still plastic, I know) they are appealing for carrying other things, not just store purchases. In other words, it will be used over and over again. We can't lose site of the value of reusing.
That said, I DO recognize that reusing a hemp bag would be more environmentally conscious than the plastic bag - hence the site that Carlton shared.
