That sounds great! On climate the UK is generally quite a bit ahead of us here back in the States -- eg., the gov't recently announced a plan for all new dwellings to be carbon neutral by 2016! So it's fascinating to hear how reality intrudes on such a simple level as light bulbs.

FYI, there's a strong climate movement in the UK (eg. Campaign Against Climate Change, which you might want to be aware of. The Campus Climate Challenge is only in the US as far as I know. There is a big and growing campus sustainability movement in general, which you might tap into -- let me know if you run into hurdles with this!
