Saturday, September 27th, 2008, tens of thousands of Americans will mobilize for "Green Jobs Now: A National Day of Action to Build the New Economy.” Green Jobs Now is a National Day of Action that will empower everyday people to stage hundreds of grassroots events throughout the country. Special emphasis is being focused toward low-income communities and communities of color.
With that being said, I'm spearheading the largest Day of Action event in the state of Washington. Over 300 volunteers are being called into action and tasked to canvass an estimated 22,000 residents living in approximately 7,800 households and small businesses to spread the word. Our goal is to position Seattle Metropolitan area (including unincorporated White Center) as a national leader in home energy efficiency and conservation through urban grassroots action, not just through our words.

In collaboration with the City of Seattle STEPs, University of Washington's Climate Impact and Shoreline Community College's Zero Energy Programs, we just began teaching 60 high school aged youth about the effect climate change has on poor and disadvantaged people worldwide. Moreover, we are teaching the teens the fundamentals of starting Green Businesses and pursuing Green Careers. The program started on July 11th and ends on August 16th.
The Moontown Foundation is hosting a fundraiser at the Garage Billiards on Monday, April 23rd, from 5-8pm. Proceeds from the fundraiser will go to support student scholarships for an 8-week program called the Ecopreneurship Challenge.
