Permaculture means permanent culture - a culture wich grows permanently without humans labour. It is the very extreem sence of permaculture. But I like it most, because my goal is to be free (in this case from working in the garden).
I just got my piece of land, so I don't grow vegetables yet. But will. Now I want to tell about the first step of permaculture which I took.
When I came to my land it was empty. Only grass and few trees and bushes was there. But I saw that between those grasses there are a lot of eatable things. They do grow in permaculture already, so my goal is only to keep it. I don't need to create a new permaculture fields. I can use the fields that nature has created here already - the permanent fields of nature.
Between grasses I have found:
- aegopodium podagraria (ground-elder)
- anthriscus sylvestris (cow parsley)
- taraxacum officinale (dandelion)
- tilia cordata or other (US - linden, UK - lime)

I have bought land, a piece of Earth. It's only 172 acres (100x72 metres). I think it is enought to grow everything I need and it is not too much to be free and not busy.
If I would get less than 100 acres, I would not be able to grow enought for myself. In that case I MUST buy everything that I need from other people, so I am not FREE.
If I would get more than about 200 acres, then I would not be able to keep an eye on everything. In that case I MUST use power of other people or machines (technics) and again I will depend on them, I will not be free.
So I bought aproximate amount of land which enables me to be free. In other posts I will write more, why do I think that 100-200 acres is best amount to be free.
And now I will answer to Phil Mitchell's comment about permaculture.
Hello,
I want to be free, so I must grow food for myself, make clothers, build house and make other stuff what I need for myself and by myself. And the materials for these things I must make/grow/get by myself too.
I have a plan how to make it and I am working on it since 2003.
I will try to write here everything that I am doing.
